Soladin 600 - what solar panels do you use?

Soladin 600

I`m thinking of increasing my solar power system and going grid tie....

The Soladin 600 working voltage is 45-125 Volts Max current is around 8 amp

This looks like it seems to be the norm for grid tie inputs to the home...

My question is this....

I have one 12v solar panel of 110 watts and two small 12 volt 55watt panels... (Navitron)

I`m trying to work out whats the better way to get this system up and running?

and should I just buy another 2 55Watt panels to get the voltage up (48V) and then start sticking the other panels in parallel

This is getting a bit tricky....
I Just can seem to get my head round the best configuration and getting the most out of the panels...or maybe there is a special way that the soladin can work...

I was thinking of using four 12V 55 watt solar panels on it to make 48V and then building up 12 volt 100watt panels in parallel... I still dont have a clue how this unit is best set up.... I just want max power for money spent on solar panels going into the unit...

MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm

lol

Do Soladin provide a PDF Spec sheet Vic?
Thats where I would always start, on their website.
Unfortunately I can't really help without this.

DIY grid tying is not something I personally do sorry.

Don't forget the "meter turning backwards" thing seems to be a myth. If you make more power than your using the grid just gets it for FREE or at least that's what happens with me :(

I have a Soladin 600 with 4 Kyocera 12v 130w panels wired in series to give 70.4Vmpp and 87.6Voc.

Shaun. The older electric meters do go backwards.

People say that! does yours though? I've yet to meet anyone that does.
Mines an old fashioned multi dial that's ten years old and the best I can do is to stop it and turn it back about 2mm then it just stops. :(

Re: Soladin 600 - what solar panels do you use?

Thanks for the help..I see different areas on the original topic. I just wanted to know if anyone had actually purchased the mastervolt soladin unit and uses it with similar panels as to what I was going to use on it...and if they like the unit..

Thanks for posting everyone.....it`s really helpd me out...
I have two 12 volt 55 watt panels and I also have one 12 volt 110 watt panel..

here is what i`m going to try and do first....

I`LL buy one 12 volt 110 watt panel..

That will give me this configuration.

12volt 55w
12volt 55w
12volt 110w
12volt 110w

=total voltage 48v

that would allow the minimum starting voltage of around 48 volt....but notice my panels are of different powers ratings and not all the same...Maybe the unit prefers the solar panels to be all the same power ratings...

Reason i`m picking the soladin is because it works itself mechatronically... it switches itself on and off regarding the solar panels... sun out unit start to work....

I just think that all i need to do is buy the soladin and a 110WATT 12 VOLT PANEL AND I`M N THE ROAD TO GRID TIE without spending too much..

and then i`ll just keep putting panels on it every so often to get up to 600 watt...

I wonder if the unit is fussy on its configuration of what panels it likes..maybe it like a strict array of panels that are all the smae voltage and power rated.....

not too worry I have sent a few emails to the company and the manager has passed them on to departments...

THIS UNIT TO ME LOOKS LIKE A GOOD PROJECT FOR SMALL SCALE TIE GRID OF UNDER 600WATTS.....

thats why I mentioned it here on the forum because its the next step up from using batteries all the time...and I think it might be useful to others looking into a small scale system thats not a hole in the pocket and not an eyesore on the roof of a house..

We are all going to be fitted with smart meters by 2020 so you might have to factor that in when it comes to payback. ;)

Will have moved by then and hopefully will be off grid.
