FREE solar panels!!!!!!!!??????

Just announced on my local BBC news.
Can't access the website right now as its been inundated I should think
Looked at the cached page and it looks like they supply about 1kw of PV and make their money from the payin thing that started last April but let you have the FREE power produced.

Google " a shade greener" in a couple of days and see what you think. :?

Re: FREE solar panels!!!!!!!!??????

I have heard about his Shawn.
I forget if it was on BBC 2's Working lunch or something similar last week.
Sounds interesting, take up will be massive I suspect.
I don't think it is a Government incentive (obviously, we are skint) so a private sector thing that for me doesn't make a lot of sense, could be wrong.

You may be lucky if you get in quick.

Re: FREE solar panels!!!!!!!!??????

Just got two of the brackets on the roof for my solar hot water as well
Will have to wait now to see if I'm eligible.
If I am I will be looking for a low wattage immersion heater to run from the PV instead of my tube panel

This is the link I believe you are refering to
http://www.ashadegreener.co.uk/
Shame that Shawn, I tried my postal code here in Shropshire, and was informed, via a Jpeg image of text, which seemed a little odd.
I did a screen grab and copy and pasted, via a photoshop clipping.

The Green 'Foot logo' is used universaly I think, none as good as mine of course

Re: FREE solar panels!!!!!!!!??????

Yes, you really can get free solar panels and you can also get wind turbines as well.

There are two leading companies at the moment that use the same model:

A shade Greener offer solar PV -A Shade Greener

SolarVentus offer free electricity from wind turbines - SolarVentus Wind Turbines

I have provided consultancy for one of the companies listed above. Both these companies are genuine and real, once you understand how it works then it all makes sense. In April of 2010 the new feed in tariffs came into effect. You can read how they work in this guide to the feed in tariff

Basically, the companies get paid for every kW generated, how that energy is used doesnt matter. So the companies get a return on their investment, you get free electricity and everyone on the planet benefits from reduced CO2.

Note that to qualify for the feed in tariffs the equipment must be MCS certified and the installer must also be MCS certified. Installations also have to be registered with ofgem to get the FITS. If anyone has any questions regarding either of the companies or the feed in tariffs please feel free to ask as I do have some experience in this area.

Mmm.
Sounds great, but, with my cynical head on
This has to be U.K. tax payers money funding this incentive.
We all know the state of our economy, can this be sustained?

I hope, but doubt :?

Re: FREE solar panels!!!!!!!!??????

The government said right from the start that they would NOT offer a subsidy for it. They passed that onto the energy companies who are required to pay the generation and export tariffs.

No taxpayer money is used for the feed in tariff.

Dont forget that the energy companies only have to pay 3p per kWh for the export tariff, nice profit for them to get electricity at 3p and then sell it immediately for 10-14p per kWh.

In 2009 renewables provided 6.7% of the UKs energy production, watch that figure grow massively over the next few years. From memory, wind turbines currently provide about 30% of the total renewables.
