U.S. 30 watt bicycle generator product

A 30 watt bicycle friction driven tyre powered brushless alternator solution.

I have contacted these guys in CA, and had a great response to their credit.
The price at around £150 ($240) just for the alternator seems high to me from a DIY perspective.

Certain people will pay for such devices I suspect..

When I was a kid my step-dad had something like that on his bike. It was all aluminium and its contact was with the tyre tread and not the side wall. ;)

Yes.
Serious bicyclists pay a fortune for good stuff.
Not uncommon for a water bottle holder to cost over $150, or a seat to cost over US$1,000. Oops, sorry, it is called a saddle... especially when it costs over $1000.

I bet China could stamp these out for about $10 a pop;

Probably true Adam.
I know for a fact that the Freeplay alternators complete, are made at a cost of $5 each.
They are made in the many thousands obviously.
