Chinese grid ties half the price of last month!

When I was looking at them they were £149 delivered. Just been looking at completed listings on ebay and they are going for as little as £70 for a 300w delivered
Anyone had a Chinese one and can report on performance?
My Swea 200w was said to have a range of 20v-58v but in reality its cuttin is 32v give or take 0.5v :?

Hi Shawn,

I've been looking at these on ebay as well. Would they be legal to use in the UK? Also is it really just a case of plugging one into the mains? The descriptions on the ebay listings are very poor, and having brought stuff direct from China before I imagine the instructions will also be poor.

I dont mind messing around with 12v stuff but plugging cheap chinese stuff into the mains is something I'm not going to rush into!

Thing is though everything is made in China, My Swea is from NL yet it was made in China. Bet all those £500 Soladins are made there as well

Yes, agree that just about everything is made in China these days. The quality of the goods from China is generally very good these days but there are plenty of factories churning out cheap copies. I bought a very cheap 150w inverter from China, seems to work fine. I'm very tempted by the grid tie units but as its something that would connected to the household mains I'm a little concerned about the safety aspects.

Connect up your power source to the inverter and plug the inverter into the mains. Search Youtube for grid inverter and you'll see people trying to turn their meters backwards.

A direct link to the exact one you bought would be good too.

Some of the data available from retailers is not exactly correct.

As microgreen said, "its something that would connected to the household mains I'm a little concerned about the safety aspects".
A few GBP for a couple simple additional parts between the inverter and grid would increase the safety aspects considerably.
