Re: Solar hot water

I found Tuftex locally in three sizes, all of them 26" wide for a nominal 24" coverage with a 2" lap.

96" x 26" = $13
120" x 26" = $20
144" x 26" = $30

Going by price the 8 footers (96" long panels) are the best per penny.

Yah! picked up a 20 tuber yesterday! 58mm Dia tubes.
Had to take the front seat out of my car to get them all in
Trying to pick up all the big stuff I can think of right now as a Smart car is on the books by the looks of things.
The tubes are just like a big 1.8m long thermos inside with a copper pipe down the centre surrounded by aluminium fins.
Had one in the garden today for testing!

I'll say the words for you Shawn.
HOT HOT HOT :D
I look forward to your updates, I have never experimented with solar heating, but it does make great sense.

Re: Solar hot water

Installed mine about 3 years ago.
Its installed in the back garden because when i checked with planning they required planning permission.
You will notice that the two right panels are broken one has lost its vacuum and the other i got carried away and tightend the clip a bit to tight.
Not used any gas to heat water now for a few weeks.

Re: Solar hot water

Do you guys know each other?
Both based in a similar location (East Yorkshire), the PM facility is handy for private chats.
You can't have enough friends/contacts in my opinion.
You never know :?

Re: Solar hot water

No Planning needed now but subject to building regs.

Have you got a long pipe run?
What pump are you using?
What diameter is your pipe?
How are you transferring the heat into the tank in your house(direct or indirect).
The place I got my panel from said they could sell me spare tubes for £14 each,58mm though if that's any use to you I can give you a number to ring.
No Ben we do not know each other as far as we know
