The LED light bulb has arrived!

Its £30 lasts 25 years, costs 88p a year to run if you have it on for 4hrs a night.

Rats - they took down the ebay link! Don't know if they send across the pond, but dealextreme (https://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.37161~r.15972982) has many bulbs we can't use here in the states due to the power being 110V. I've been using several from several manufacturers, and found that the price/voltage is really key: have a 9V LED that will "pay for itself" in a little over five years, while a 6V that's comparable will "pay for itself" in around four years (compared to a CFL: compared to incandescents they pay for themselves within 1.2 years or less).
